Valerie F. McCormack
Executive Director
Valerie has served as Executive Director of SC4K since January of 2001. Prior to joining SC4K, held many positions in the non-profit and education fields, including Director of Development for The Ratner School, Director of Special Events and the YMCA Cleveland Corporate Challenge and Director of the Euclid YMCA School Age Child Care Program.
With jobs that keep you running from event to event, it's no surprise that Valerie's favorite shoes are gym shoes. Fitting, as her first job in Cleveland was as a health and physical education teacher at Hawken Upper School where she also coached girl's track, basketball and tennis.
Valerie is a member of the Board of Directors for the Forever Children's Home, a home established in 2001 to provide housing and lifetime care for four individuals with severe mental retardation and developmental disabilities. She has also been very involved with various committees and boards at her children's alma maters including Gilmour Academy, Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School, The Ratner School, Holy Cross School and the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities school program.
A devoted fan of all sports, we like Valerie despite her devotion to her hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Valerie received her undergraduate and master's degrees from Indiana University. She has four grown sons and lives in Cleveland with her husband Tim, whom she met while running in the Metroparks, and their two golden retrievers, Arnie and Huck.
