SC4K depends on volunteers and could not operate without the 900+ group and individual volunteers who donate their time and talent. From the corporations and organizations who pack up clothing at the warehouse to those individuals that serve on our boards and committees, their dedication and commitment to service are invaluable. SC4K is able to operate efficiently with a staff of 3 full-time and 1 part-time employee as a result of this strategic partnership with volunteer groups and individuals. Below is a brief description of SC4K's volunteer opportunities. To learn more, fill out the
Volunteer Form today.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Packing clothing at the warehouse
Groups of volunteers (minimum 10 people) are needed at the SC4K warehouse in Cleveland to help count, sort and pack items into boxes for distribution. A Packing Day is a fun, team-building opportunity that involves some physical labor (making boxes, opening boxes, moving boxes). The warehouse is open from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Packing Days need to be scheduled for a minimum 3-hour time slot within these hours. Packing Days are scheduled based on the current inventory in the warehouse.
Special Events
We can use volunteers to assist with event set-up and clean-up, registration, raffle ticket sales and other various tasks for the following events: Fool’s Frolic, Heart & Sole Luncheon, and Luau on the Lake. Our Fool’s Frolic and Luau on the Lake events also each have a planning committee and a host committee that require various levels of volunteer commitments. Check out our
Events page to learn more about each event.
Board Commmittees
SC4K can use volunteers with special expertise to assist on our board committees. The commitment is year-round with quarterly meetings, as well as additional planning meetings as needed. The two committees open to volunteers are:
Development and Communications Committee
This committee works with staff to develop and implement an annual development and communications plan designed to raise funds, promote awareness, and increase the visibility of SC4K’s mission-driven work. This team also provides oversight to other special event/benefit teams as needed.
Product and Services Committee
This committee oversees the organization’s product purchasing and the programs and services of SC4K. Responsibilities include evaluating the progress and effectiveness of the program and collaboration with the distribution partner agencies.
